Default Alpine TypeR coax. wont fit in the rear of my G3?

I have been working on installing type r components and coax speakers in my teg. the components went in pretty good in the front but the back ones do not fit at all. most of the post i have found talk about how easy it is to just replace the speakers in the back and there isnt much talk of having to modify anything. i am thinking i will have to cut the plastic holder to make it bigger by atleast a half inch. is there something i am missing here? thanks for all your help!

What's the total mounting depth? You'll probably need to shave the back end plastic speaker mounting bracket... I had to do some gentle shoving with my Infinity Reference 625i.
