Speedometer troubles
Hello ; I swaped out a blown motor out of my 95 Honda civic sedan with a used motor from japan. ( D15B )
My prblem is my speedometer does not seem to work anymore. I've checked most of all the electrical connects in the engine bay. Could be a fuse in the fuse panel? Could someone help please.
Oh by the way my tach works fine.

i would start with the vehicle speed sensor. it may be located on the transmission or on one of your front wheel hubs. do you have a manual for the car? did you swap the transmission also? i don't think there is any fuses dealing with this problem, but it probably just a connector not connected. post up here again if you did not find it yet.
Yes my Trans is a manual 5 speed. It is either a S20 or a Y20. No I did not swap out the transmissions. I did find the speed sonsor on the trans it was already connected so I unconnected it and check it out for any broken wires there were none and connected it up again. Still not working.
Could the sensor have gone bad during the 2 week period of swapping out the motors?
Verry confusing problem.

are you using a new harness or a new ecu? i would start out by getting a service manual and start trouble shooting off of that. visit www.hondahookup.com/manuals/ for a service manual for your car. i checked my manual for my integra and it does seem that there is a fuse that is connected to the circuit for the speedometer, so i was incorrect. there should be a series of tests listed in the service manual that you can do to troubleshoot this problem cuz in my manual it listed a flow chart to diagnose this, which started with the vehicle speed sensor. to do these tests you need a digital multimeter to check for the specified voltages and for continuity. i wish i was more familiar with your particular car but starting with the manual should be your best bet.
