Default mechanics books

im looking to get into auto mechanics and I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good basic mechanics books to help me get started.

Better yet... go to your local community college and enroll in the auto mechanics course. You learn a LOT, you get hands on, and free access to real equipment.

If you're totally new to the scene, check out the book "Civic Duty"--it kinda covers some basics so you can at least ask intelligent questions, which is the only real hump to understanding anything, mechanical or not.
