I want to give my head a bath
Don worry about the carbon buildup in teh exhaust housing... is it thick with buildup or just black? cause if its just like stained then just leave it alone, cause after 100 miles it will look the same anyway. If its all carboned up, then scrub it with a small wire toothbrush. WHen you are done sand it in a couple stages then wash it again and it will look just fine. You should probably replace the valve seals since its off anyway. And if the head has a lot of miles on it, i would also consider regridning the seats.
i've got new valve seals, cam seal, valve cover gasket, getting an oem headgasket.
there is actual carbon build up that i'd like to remove. im also considering doing a mild DIY port and polish on the exhaust side as well as the cx mani i'll be using. i hear polishing the intake was not helpful.
i was told the head is from an 00 civic but the previous owner was unaware of the mileage.
but i'll be lapping the valve/seats so i should get a good seal. i did a lil leak test on em before i tore the head apart and the exhaust side was just a tad leaky. intake was fine, but i'll do them all neways.
i hope getting it acid dipped, or atleast cleaning the fawker over and over and over will be enough to remove all the grinding compound!
