Default 4th Gen snappy door stops

Do you hear a snap sound when you open the door on that 4th gen. I found a away to get rid of most of the sound with out defeating the purpose of the door stop.

1st remove the door panel
2nd remove the pin holding the door stop to the A pillar
3rd remove the (2) 10mm bolts holding the door stop
4th you might notice how stiff the door check strap is the rollers you might be tempted to lube it and reinstall it I had no such luck even after lubing mine. What I did was pushed the check strap out of the roller assy, watch for two little roller’s they will fall out.
5th You will notice the strap has a ramp and a indentation for the roller to sit in at the end of its travel.
6th pull out your dremel tool with a stone grinding wheel and smooth the ramps down just a little not a lot.
7th grease up the rod with white grease, if your rollers did not come out of the other part use a pick a pickem out wash them with brake clean remove all the old grease re assy with new grease install strap back into rollers.
8th put back together.

Some people just hammer out the pin on the A pillar leaving the door to swing free watch out if yours is this way your fenders can be ruined really quick.

By doing as I just described it cut the pop sound by 80% the other noise if the A pillar piece moving around while the door is closing. Its very important that you don’t grind the strap to much or the door will not stay open.

Some fourth gens have had the piece in the a pillar pull out which seems to be very common. IM working on making a ¼ inch plate reinforcement to hold it where it should be. The plate is going to look factory in nature.
