Painting interior
duplicolor is ok only you have to remember that with soft plastic it wont hold up to well trust me i knoww. it looks nice at first but once it starts chipping and trust me it will chip eventually it doesnt look so nice. i think if your gunna get serious about the interior all the panels cover them with fabric. your vents and stuff like that you can paint they are hard and solid so spray away
I don't think I saw anybody mention using a BRUSH when cleaning, not wire, aplastic bristle brush and scrub it, wipe dry (obviously with a clean, lint free rag). All the cruds, oils, protectant residue, is in the 'texture' (those little cracks and crevices) of the plastic. Sandings only gonna clean the peaks, all those valleys will be still full of it. As you'll learn the hard way, some solvents will attack, melt, dissolve, plastic so be careful what ya clean with and how long you leave it on the surface.
Satin (ie low gloss) won't give you that cheesey look on interior parts. Follow the mfr's instructions for application and recoating. Basically though, one heavy coat nearly never works, on anything....

i painted some of my interior consoles black. so its brown tannish brown interior with black. everything turned out fine, but i had to spray the clear coat a couple times. didnt read the directions well. it said shake for 1 minute. really, you have to shake for 1 minute! or bubbles!
you need to go to an auto parts store and buy a can of adhesion promoter. this allows the paint to bond to the plastic. I work at an auto parts store that mixes automotive paint and the body shops use this when painting plastic.
