The film was written by sibling team Chad and Carey Hayes, whose contributions to the genre so far have included the remake of House of Wax and the biblically-bad plague flick, The Reaping. To counterbalance that, the director’s chair was filled by James Wan, one of the most notable talents in the current horror genre, who directed the original Saw, the critically-acclaimed “haunted child” movie Insidious, and the forthcoming sequel Insidious Chapter 2.Despite the trailer’s claims that this horror flick will tell a story that has never been told before, the plot **actually offers nothing new and, in fact, reminds me a lot of The Amityville **Horror (a famous case by the Warrens which had been made into countless films).The execution of the film is done very well and the cast is absolutely fantastic to watch. Most of the time you are not shown the entities but the haunting of the Perron family is **incredibly creepy to watch and the suspense, just incredible.The dialogue is witty and the scenes played out so smoothly that you won’t feel the length of the film – 112 minutes long.
