Default DIY smoke headlight Question

I wanted to try out smoking headlights (inside being black), so i tried it on my friends beater . It went well besides me being too safe and leaving too much chrome, but the only thing is some of the chrome came off with the tape (which i was warned about)...are there any tapes that wont do this ? Thanks for the help.

:werd: If you got strong masking tape stick your fingers on it to make it less sticky but still good enough to stick in place. I use real cheap paper like masking tape and tap my fingers on it to make it less sticky. No chrome coming off problems ever.

I would just use some paint thinner and remove the chrome paint before doing the black I guess...

Or when I painted my sis' headlights, I didn't use tape I just cut some paper into the shape that I needed to block.

can i use the same oven method on projector. i have the blue ion projector and want to paint the chrome portion black for the high/low beam area and paint the corner amber/orange. one more question, my projector come w/the wire attach to the headlight for the h4 to h1 and h3 conversion. would the wire melt in the oven?

Yea, you could use the "oven method" , But, i think that the wire will melt. If my headlights burned my hand, then they will do the same to a little rubber coated wire . Id say if your buying projectors, just buy them the way you want them in the first place
