Getting dirt off wheels

Default Getting dirt off wheels

Over the past few weeks my rear wheels have been getting crap on them that doesnt wash off. I have black wheels with the polished lip and its only the lip that has this dirt. Im thinking it might be brake dust but not sure. Anybody know what I can use to get it off without damaging the wheel?

do they look like black specs of asphalt that are a pain to take off? then yep, those are remnants of hard braking etc

yeah it sort of does look like asphalt. Is there anything I can use to get it off?

i just use my fingers, with gloves on. i guess u can use a stiff rubber spatula or something like that.

any spray on product that would fight through those brake pad remnants would be highly acidic anyway, so doing it by hand is the best way.

i've had some good luck with googone in gel form in the past. but if it's tar, it wont work too well if it's thick. if it's just a thin layer then googone will work fairly well. just spray it directly on the area then let it sit for a few minutes then use your fingers to lightly rub the affected area.
