Default Power Bolt On>?

In everyone's humble opinion...

What would be the best power boosting 'bolt on' (not swapping the engine) for a 90 Civic HB STD 1.5L 4SPD Manual??

You know a few extra HP here, a few extra there...just little things that will improve: power, efficiency, economy...anything. I basically like my car the way it is...I don't want drastic change...I just want to improve on what I've got.

Anyone?

Jason

Transaxle swap. Getting an Si five speed transaxle in there will reduce the sluggishness I'm sure you feel. It doesn't actually boost the power output, but it will feel like you did.

If not, an MPFI conversion would be nice too.

Thanks Kai!

As far as the MPFI conversion...is that a HUGE or EXPENSIVE undertaking?

Anyone else?

i had the same thing (STD) hatch and that thing is slow as piss(60 HP),i bought an k&N cone filter and made a custom intake, but i wouldn't spend one cent on that car until a swap....just IMO....

I'm not trying to win any races here and it's 76HP, I'm just looking for a little more juice and perhaps a way to improve on the already efficient engine. (and maybe a way to get me to work quicker in the morning when I oversleep...heh)
I don't want to swap because I like the fact that I get such amazing fuel economy out of this engine, it has almost 300k kms (186,000 miles) on it and it is still running like a dream...this is not to perform for others...it is so the car performs better for me.

Anyone else

J.

The four speed you have has a direct drive 4th, right? Adding the Si transaxle will also give you the gas-saving overdrive 5th along with the quicker lower gears. I just remembered that.

An MPFI conversion is not that hard, just a complete intake manifold swap, an injector resistor and some wires.

just keep it in good working order, new spark plug wires, good spark plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter, itll run forever if u take care of it, i wouldnt try to build it at all, cuz ur not gonna get much power without a larger displacement, just take care of it
