The redline is exactly that... the red line. It does not start or stop, ideally the needle should not cross the red line. That's why it is red like a stop sign.

Please tell me you're not reving this poor car to the rev limiter.

BTW, you did get ripped. Bad. $1200 would be a good price for a rust-free good running Z6 swapped car.
