Default taking on water

I've got a '90 Civic Wagon. She has been out in a lot of rain lately. I noticed after returning from out of town that there was an odd smell, and found mold growing by the driver seat, from water pooled under the carpet.

It's possible that this is from driving or being rained on, I can't be sure.

- It was only in front of the drivers seat; not under, behind, or in any other place in the car
- I could not find any "train" of water leading from any source

Any ideas or experience? Anyone have any info about drain hole locations?

Your kind advice is greatly appreciated.

Other helpful info:
  • 260,000 miles
  • it's always been in a climate with salted roads in winter
  • rust around doors and wheelwells

Default Check it out...

Sit in you car while your husband, wife, kid friend or sexual partner sprays the area on the exterior of the vehicle where you suspect the water intrusion is occuring- make sure all the windows are rolled up (duh). While you're inside getting drunk and listening to Billy Ocean, look around for drips of water or water seepage. Also check under your vehcile and see if you can spot any rusted out holes where water from the road may be getting in and soaking up into the carpet. Also inspect the seals around the doors to see if they are rotting like a five year old corpse. If all else fails and gray/green furry plant life keeps invading your car you can always drive it into a lake and tell the cops a gang of greasy meth addicts stole it. If your lucky, you'll get a few hundred buck out of it to buy more Billy Ocean CD's.
