Default frame damage

just a question....I took my 89 civic si in to the shop to get it pre safetied and they told me that there was major frame damage.....now does this mean the car is pretty much done or can it be fixed and would it be really exspensive? and If anyone knows of where I could get an 89 civic with a good body but no engine or something that would be farely cheap could you let me know.

thanx

Some things are simply too expensive to repair. Take your car to a body shop that has one of the newer frame machines-these things are incredible, btw. My body man charges for several hours of labor to set up the car on the machine and then to go over it. If frame damage is found in a structurally important location they will tell you if they can fix it at a fair price. If you have a shop manual-make a copy of the pages with the frame data and take that with you.

My brother tore his LCA out of the front subframe on his Mazda MX6. They told us the frame damage would cost about $2000 to fix. We got a new front subframe off someone from the internet and installed it costing us about $100. We were lucky as that part unbolts, but if your damaged part doesn't unbolt them maybe you are screwed. It doesn't make sense to pay $2000 to fix frame damaged on a 4G since their value is so low anyway.
