well most ppl drive with bad shocks, springs normally don't break, what ur problem sounds like is bushing or the things that hold ur suspension in place on the car, the rotate when ur tire moves up and down in ur wheel well and over time turn to crap, if ur car is really bumpy u need new shocks, if it hits the wheel well and bottoms out or doesnt absorb bumps in the road at all u need shocks
