Default 91 crx si. I'm stumped, no start first time ever.

The ol faithfull put me on side of the road for the first time ever this morning. I've been reading up, and my conclusion, is possibly a bad ecu. There is no spark, i hear the fuel pump priming, the check engine light comes on for 2 scecond when i turn the ignition on, and then i hear the main relay click. I never replaced it, but i did resolder some solder points on it a while back, when the fuel pump was'nt priming, and it had hard starting problems when the engine was warm, which fixed it then. Could it still be something else in the main relay gone bad? There are no flashes on the ecu and the check engine light does not stay on.

Today, i replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ignitor, which a guy told me was bad, but obviously not. He tested the coil and said it is good. Also, for the past two years or so, the ecu made noises like crickets, when you gave it a little extra gas, you could hear it making noises. The car has 210,000 miles on it.

It has cranked fine, until this morning, i cranked it up, drove for two miles, and then it spit and sputtered twice, and quit. It then turned over, but does not crank. Are ecu's known to go bad and was it making noises a sign of it fixing to go? This will be my next step unless somebody can help me figure something else. I guess i'll try to find a used one. I also replaced the ignition switch not to long ago. Thanks in advance for any info or advice. I'll even post up what the problem was or is after i fix it, so this thread will help others in the future.

Hmmm. It feels like i'm talking to myself here, but also, the tachometer does not move at all while cranking over. I read where that is caused by a bad ignitor. I replaced that, with the same results. I checked for spark by removing a plug wire and putting a good plug in touching the valve cover while somebody is turning it over, and absolutely no spark. It is getting fuel. It just all of a sudden died while driving down the road. The timing belt is good. I replaced it about 10k miles ago.

After some reading up on tegger.com and some more thinking, i figured it out. It was the coil. I did the ohm test on it myself, even though the parts salesman told me otherwise. Maybe thats why they sell parts and don't fix cars. But, don't get me wrong, some of them know what they're talking about.

Yea. I checked that. It was a bad coil. I also replaced the igniter, which a guy at autozone told me was bad. Maybe they were both bad. I'm just hoping the duralast coil and igniter last. They are working fine, for now, with the exception, my seat belt beeper started beeping while driving down the road. I always wear mine, but i buckled the passenger one to be sure that's not what's making it beep. I'm fixing to type a new thread asking this question now. Also, the www.tegger.com website is very good for figuring out mechanical problems with your honda or acura. It helped me with this problem. It made me go back and re test my coil, even after the parts guy told me it was good.
