d16y7 head on d15b2?
I put this in the hybrid forum but i didn't get any responses. My friend has a 98 dx civic and he pulled a mini me swap on it (put d16y8 head on it and the rest of the vtec stuff) and he has the d16y7 non vtec head sitting in his garage and told me i could have it for free and i was wondering if it would fit on a d15b2 on a 88 civic hatchback? I already have the new intake manifold and throttle body to go with the head and i just need to know what kind of trouble i might run into, especially being the b15b2 is obd0 and the d16y7 head is obd2. just help me out and let me know if it's reasonable and what all would have to be done to keep the engine reliable. Thanks

just because its a d series motor and a d series head doesnt mean it will match up..
i mean im not 100% posititive BUT 90+ engines you can do the mini swaps..not with an 88-89 d series motor.

the head should bolt up to the block (only the d16a8/9 from the 86-89 integras and the jdm dohc zc models heads would not match up with the normal d series blocks such as the d16a or d15b)
as for wiring i'd have to look at the cylinder head from the d16y7 as i'm not sure if you can use that head on your engine...if you got another obd2 manifold you are looking at very hard wiring and the req't of using an ecu for that model head/manifold...if you are trying to swap on an older crx si manifold and just do a simple wiring & si ecu conversion it maybe possible
i don't know these off hand b/c i never did a mini-me or swapped heads on engines (did just engine swaps)...i'd have to see it with my own eyes and compare the oil pressure switch and the manifold to see if you can get around it
