Default Engine knock????

I'm looking at a CRX with a LS/VTEC motor. It has a compression ratio of 12:1, but the guy im buying it from thinks its the knock sensor and i was just wondering if that was even possable and what els could be making it knock(other than bad gas)?

93 octane, I mainly wanted to know the worst possable scenario. and the ammount it would be to get the parts to fix it.

Depending on how it is built, LS/VTEC hybrid engines usually don't have knock sensors. The high compression ratio is what is causing it, the highest C/R I would use in a street car would be 11.5/1 but I ave heard of higher. In the worst case scenario, the engine will need a total rebuild/replacement. The amount of damage depends on how hard it pings, and how long the guy drove it like that.

Do you have Sunoco near you? They have 94 Octane. I use it and **** I probably have like 8:1.
