CV Joint replacment
how is the condition of your axles overall?...sometimes its a better idea to just replace the whole unit with a rebuilt one instead of just doing one cv boot...i had a bad cv boot and just did the whole axle
I always replace the whole axle since it doesn't involve any more labor. And, think of it this way, if conditions were right to make one joint fail, the other's not far behind. Expect to pay about $100 USD for a rebuilt axle.
I get my axles from http://www.raxles.com/. I've actually met Marty and toured the facility. It's all top notch.
I don't know for sure if it helps anything, but I always hit the CV boots and the steering rack boot with Armor All when I change the engine oil. Joints wear out b/c the boot gets brittle and tears-- allowing dirt to mix with the grease. -scott

u can get a remanufactured axle for 59 bucks after the core charge is returned extra 20-30 bucks for the core if u dont bring it back, or just get a cv boot kit and repack the joint with ball bearing grease after u check it for 13 dollars for the kit, its more often that not easier to just slap the new axle in for 60 bucks.
autozone or local auto parts stores should have them readily available
what kind of car do you have?...there are 2 types of axles for the 88-91 civic HB and CRX (don't know about sedans or wagon)...one is a 23 spline (for Std Hatchback and CRX HF) and the 26 spline for all others (heavier duty)
