Default 88 Hatch for 800 bucks

I have a buddy who is selling his 88 DX hatch for 800 bucks. The front end was damaged in an accident, no frame damage though and he has the parts to fix the front end damage which of course will be included with the purchase. It runs just fine, is a manual tranny and needs a carpet kit too. A great base to build from if you want a project car. Let me know if you're interested.

I might be interested. Can I get any more info on the car's mileage and other conditions? I would very much appreciate pics! Has it been raced or modded? I need a reliable beater to commute in. I am in the LA area. Please reply, thanks!

Before you can do any commuting in this car, you're gonna need to put it back together. I know it hasn't been raced and doubt its been modded. When my friend got it, it was wrecked in the front. He bought the parts needed to fix it but then he came up on a full size chevy truck so the hatch got put on the back burner. He also pulled out the carpet as he was planning on replacing that too. The front end parts will come with it, he never bought the carpet though. Im not sure what the mileage is but i will find out for you and see if i can get some pics for you too. He did say that it runs good though.

Thank you for the reply! You mention the car runs well, but you also say that it "needs to be put back together before I can commute with it". Does this mean it just looks bad, or is it somehow not legal to drive the car around in the condition it's in?

Also, around how much would it cost to repair the car? Would your friend be willing to do this for extra? Thanks!

To be honest with you, I haven't actually seen the car with my own eyes, my friend says it got wrecked so I imagine it looking like its been in a wreck. Being that he said it runs good, I also have to assume that its not so bad that it cant be driven, but bad enough to warrant buying parts to fix it. And he said he pulled the carpet out so no telling what condintion the interior is in. I'll hit him up on Monday, he's out of town this weekend, and I'll see what's up for sure. I'll go check it out and give you the full 411 aight?

alright, I went over today to check it out and it's in better condition than I thought. Im not too sure what you're looking for, but this isn't gonna be a car that you buy and then jump in tomorrow to go to work. It's a good base to work from as far as a project car goes. This is what all needs to be done to get it on the road. Lay the carpet back down and install the front seats and center console. Then on the outside, the radiator support needs to be replaced(see parts included with car below), and it needs a front bumper cover which can be had for about $75-$100 bucks. The front clip has already been replaced with parts that are primered black and ready for paint. The engine is the stock DX 1.5L 92hp beast that is mated to a 5 speed gearbox. It has about 172k miles on the odometer. Parts included are all brand new and include, radiator support, radiator,a/c condenser, distributor cap, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. He has everything needed to get this thing back on the road except for the front bumper cover. It's metallic gold and the rear windows are tinted, the body is in decent condition, nothing stood out when I was checking it out, but the paint has faded, which is to be expected for a 14 yr old car. Like I said, im not trying to pass this off as a cool daily driver, not yet at least, it can be once you finish what he started and put it all back together. This is definitely a project car, ripe for a engine transplant:naughty:
