Default idle fluctuation

Ok I know this has been covered before but my car is idling from 800 to 1500 over and over whenever I come to a stop. I unplugged the tps and it stopped but when I plug it in it eventually starts up again.

I"ve never done this personally, but have read it works. Wait till your car warms. Unscrew your idle bolt on the back of the Intake manifold. Unscrew it all the way, but don't pull it out. Then screw it back in. do this 2-3 times and set it where you want the idle. Like I said, I've never done this, but read it works.

I've also heard clean the TB and that'll help some too.

I've heard of this causing the temp gauge to rise, but not mess w/the idle.

But, if it does, the cure would be to take off the radiator cap (when the car is cold), and let it run for about 10-15 mins. Make sure you're on a flat area as well!!!

heres a funny story.

i changed my girls rad in our old 90 hatchback last year when it was still her daily.

the gd thing kept overheating though, couldnt figure out why...

drive it around the block, it would get blazing hot, bring it home, drive on ramps, check the coolant...coolants fine.

take it off the ramps, drive it around....

put it on the ramps, take it off

fill the car while on level surface? problem solved

Pull off your negative battery cable and let the ECU reset. That will fix it sometimes.
