Default Sunroof problems.. wtf!?!?!

So on my 88 CRX SI I had a sunroof that had 3 problems

1. had rusted holes in it
2. wouldnt go all the way forward
3. Once I got it to go all the way forward, the right rear side wouldnt drop all the way shut.

Soooo because of the major rust, I got a new sunroof.

Cleaned the shit out of rails/guides/arms

resprayed with lubricant and whatnot

It goes all teh way forward with some help from me, but the damn right rear corner will not drop for anything. Im so stuck ive tried cleaning removing and replacing. forcing.. NOTHING works...

Anyone ahve this prob, or know how to get it shut. I dont care what happens after.. weather if fucking opens again is not a concern of mine. I want it closed. period.

No one had any clue haha wonderfull

I took the sunroof off again tried my best to take a look to see what would be the problem. I sat there and watched both arms moving back and forth or NOT moving figured out the prob... the lever that pulls the arm down gets stuck in up position once sunroof is opened... I sprayed with WD40 cleaned hella good, re-lubricated. Still gets stuck.

Only way to really get rid of prob is to remove sunroof tracks. Not interested so its closed now and hopefully wont leak. It appears that u can push it up and dont and theres play which is weird...

I hate sunroofs

That sucks man, someone must have left it open a lot. Let everything get full of dirt and rain, just wrong

If it was me, I'd have someone push the close button while I pushed it into the proper closed position, hopefully once it gets closed properly the motor will hold it there.

Otherwise, maybe it's the motor itself that's the issue :dunno:

So heres a little update, I got it closed, and the suroof moves along its path like it is supposed to. The problem s that the arm that swings to bring the sonroof DOWN to the fully clsoed position will get lock in the upright position. I can tap it with a screwdriver to get it to drop, but the sunroof is not closed tight. It is in the down position which is better than nothing, but when u shut the door, the pressure will pop it up slightly so I know its not fully closed.

Curious question, has anyone tried removing all the sunroof junk, i.e motor ralis etc and welded the damn thing.

I never use the sunroof, and I guess it wouldnt help the structural stiffness of the car, but it wouldnt hurt it either...

I've read some people can get them to seat properly in back by rocking it once it stops. So if it won't go any further, go a little back (push open briefly) and then try to close it again. Might take several times.

This might not apply to your problem psychoblue23 as yours sounds more serious, but worth a try.
