1987 batttery light flickers
Okay, here's what's going on. I was bringing some stuff back from the post office (4 massive parcels), when on my way out, I look at my dash, and there's the battery light! Now I know you're thinking whoopdi doo, just check your alternator and battery right? Well the funny thing is, I JUST replaced both of them. I bought a new battery because I had an accident where I slid my car into a ditch with a little bit of water in it; I figured it was the batter missing electrolytes and that since the battery was non-customer repairable I should just get a new one. When that didn't work, I simply replaced the alternator with a newly rebuilt AC Delco. It's worked for I'd say 2 weeks and now the light's back on. Now the funny thing is is that the light flickers on and off even when I'm in a low gear. Now the choke is out, but the way I look at it is once you're in gear and driving around in 2nd in a parking lot, you aren't getting a very high RPM so that wouldn't help the alternator. Also every once in a while if I get a bump JUST the right way, the light goes away. Now since putting boxes into a car has nothing to do with water hitting the alternator and when I did hit a puddle, no lights came on, I highly doubt it's my alternator again. If anyone can come up with an answer to my query that'd be great.
