noob exhaust question
i am a total honda noob.
i just got a 90 crx-dx i think it has a 1.5 in it.
totally stock so far.
i doing a header and hi flo cat (test pipe) and cold air intake.
and a ecu chip.
but what cat back system size should i get.
2.25" or 2.5"
i like the 2.5" but will i still have enough back pressure, and will it kill my lo
end torque ?
thanks for any help.

There is no need for an ECU Chip.....and the low end torque you speak of is just about as much as a lawn mower is pushing.....So all in all it doesnt matter what exhaust you choose.
Boosting is not the only reason to chip an ECU... An all motor setup could definately make use of a higher redline...
But I agree, on this engine, and with the mods in mind, it would be a waste to chip...
Honestly, I dont even think this engine in particular is worth any modding... With the moeny spent you could swap it out for something else, at the very least a D16A6... But with the A6 you have MPFI, and it responds very well to modifications...
As for exhaust size, you need to have a game plan... For instance, do you want to boost? A boosted (forced induction such as turbo or super charger) would be better off with a larger exhaust... All motor on the other hand while it likes to breathe, it cannot be too big or itll hurt you...
My best advice, is sit down, write down what exactly you plan to do with this car... Drag race, track race, daily driver, daily driver with some spirit and go from there... Then once you have a game plan get online and find out what setup is best for what you plan to do... And go from there... Hondas are great because there are SOOO many different things you can do to them to suit your needs... But first you need to find out what those needs are before you begin modding...

this car is my daily driver, and i just want to do bolt on stuff, as far as hop ups go
but motor wise nothing internal. just cold air intake, and header test pipe, and cat back exhaust. then what ever else you guy and girls reccomend.

In that case, Id swap in a D16A6 and just do basic bolt ons... That or atleast do MPFI swap on the D15B2 (the stock engine) before you do anything else, because thats the main restriction in the system... Going from 2 to 4 injectors will help you out the most... Until you give the engine a more efficient way to receive gas, any intake and exhaust mods would pretty much be worthless...

well the reason i'm doing exhaust is cus the current system on the car is shot, rusted and full of holes.
i just got this car last weekend and it sat for 10 years prioor to me buying it.
134,000 miles on it. but from sitting the exhaust rusted to death.
so i checked prices and it's cheaper for me to do a catback that to go to a muffler shop.
