Default is my timing messed up or what?

ok when I put my b16 in i chaned the timing belt and water pump. After getting the car runing I noticed the valve train was a little loud (ticking), this indicates need of a valve adjustment, so I did that and while I was doing so I realized that on the crank shaft pulley there is a white TDC mark and some red mark, well when I line up the TDC marks on the cams (they dont line up perfect but its close) the red mark on the pulley lines up with the TDC mark on the belt cover and not the white one like it is supposed to be. Is this bad or is it ok? The valves are still noisy. Im note really sure if the pistons are hitting them or what? Im not good at troubleshooting stuff. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Yeah that's bad.....Might be the piston hittin the valves since the timing is off...Do you have a Check Engine Light.

tonight i installed a timing belt on a b16 with gsr cams and cam gears. im pretty sure the gears are identical. But the belt seems a little loose. i can almost pull it off when its fully tensioned. Does that sound right?
