Sorry for the stupid question but i have tried doing the research but had no luck in the matter. What is a Std hatch whats the std for anything special please let me know. Thank you

 

STD = Standard = Manual = 5 Speed

 

STD hatch is the lowest Civic model - 4 speed transmission - D15B1 70 hp engine - small front brakes - small axles - no passenger side mirror - no tachometer - no rear wiper - panel between tail lights is black, not red plastic like DX or Si - probably some other things i am forgetting

 

is it worth buying for 700 and is it easy to swap a d16y8???

 

yes, if it is in decent shape and yes, fairly easy, just like doing the swap in a DX - need to convert from DPFI to MPFI - STD is the lightest model hatch - makes them good swap material - personally, i would swap in a DOHC ZC which is much easier and you would have a quicker car (i am biased)

 

i was told that i have a dx, but the panel between my tail lights is black, i dont have rear window wiper or tachometer and im pretty damn sure i have more than 70 horsepower. and i have a passenger side mirror.

 

The passenger's side mirror was a common add-on. I added one to my STD hatch. (For that matter, I added the Si guage cluster with tach). But it definately had about 70 hp. I sold it to someone here on the board for $700.

One other thing to look for also is that it has no shifter console, just the shifter sticking through the floor with a rubber shift boot.


By searching, there are MANY writeups and how to's on the internet about this. This is a pretty common thing

 

DX has D15B2 92hp engine - STD has D15B1 70hp engine and 4 speed - STD is only model with 4 speed
