Default dead 87 si

my stock 87 crx si just died..turns over and there is spark from the coil and distributor..took valve cove off and all is moving there also..used starting fluid to see if it was a fuel issue and nuthin...help if u can..thanks

Did anything happen before it quit, or was it random?

just one day it wouldnt reach over 4 grand..acted like bog/rev limiter.. then a small clunk and erratic tach movent then nuthin..

sounds to me like it has bad igniter

Common test for the ingnitor: have a friend tap on it with a wrench while you try to start the car. Odd, but it works about as often as the starter/hammer trick does.

so once i fix it an get this runnin how do i keep it from happenin again? to replace that ignitor from local part store is like 200 bucks. any options? would hate to have it go out again and get stuck somewhere. fill me with you infinite wisdoms guys..

Get one from a junkyard for like $10.

the car jump timeing because if it wouldnt start with starter fluid then the timing is off for sure if you have spark.if thats not it try the main relay to.
