Default Port and Polish???

What benefits will I see if I port and polish my ZC motor??? I have I/H/E and FPR........that's it.....I cant get a full port and polish and 3 angle valve job for like 200 bucks.....that sounds like a good deal from what I have heard....but I never really did research on this type of stuff....

WHat does a port and polish do?? 3 ro 5 angle valve cut????

A port and polish is only as good as the person doing it. Don't trust a domestic P&P shop to know what they are doing with an import motor.

Simply put, all a P&P does is allow your engine to flow more air by removing all the rough surfaces, casting imperfections, etc, (polishing) and widening out/port matching your ports. On Honda engines there is very little enlarging of the ports.

Do not polish the intake manifold or the intake ports on the head. The rough material should be there to help mix the air/fuel. You can remove casting marks, etc, but don't polish it out.

if you port & polish i'd only do the exhaust ports...b/c the intake is designed to create a swirl to efficiently mix the gas/air to get a more powerful explosion...a professional shop would be able to keep the proper swirl effect along with increasing airflow when by hand by an amateur will not know what to do (i don't)

a professional job will including the port & polish of the intake and exhaust ports as well as polishing the cylinder head part of the combustion area...i've never had a chance to see what is actually done but this is what i'm sure of that happens...some other shops may do many other things

You only need a 3 angle job on a street engine, the purpose is to make the valve more aerodynamic, but a 5 angle job can make the valve head more prone to damage/cracking.
