I am having a problem with my backup lights on my '91 Civic Hatchback. The backup lights will come on if I hold the gear shift lever in a certain position. There is a small amount of play in the gear shift when I am in reverse. Is there some kind of adjustment that can be made or may I possibly need a new backup light switch? I am not mechanically inclined so details and possibly 6-year old lingo would help.

 

sounds like a tranny problem to me maybe ur reverse light switch on ur tranny is loose or messed up
