Default broken shock

I just discovered that the top of one of my shocks broke and shot up and dented the under side of my hood. I know the shock will have to be replaced but can I drive it like is without damaging anything else?

It has coilovers on which I know little to nothing about.

I hope only the rod broke and not the actual body of the car that holds the shock in place, but I'm assuming that that's not likely. If the rod is indeed broken or the nut broke off of the thread, then there's nothing really holding the top of the shock in the tower, except the weight of the car. If your real careful over bumps and don't speed, I think you'll be okay driving on it for a few days or even weeks until u can get it replaced.
