Just a long breaker or impact gun for the center bolt. PB Blast ahead of time. Then the pully slides off.

Won't the crank pulley turn when I try to take it off? I am about to buy an impact gun, but also I have a long breaker bar about 2 feet, and I can always add some pipe to it.

don't use the breaker bar,the motor will just rotate. use the impact gun. the pully will just pull off. its important to check the keyway and make sure they are the same size. otherwise the pully will strip out.

If you take off the cover plate at the bottom of the tranny and wedge a large screw driver in the flywheel you can do it with the breaker bar. I did mine with an 18" one last week.

Put it in 5th gear and have somebody stand on the brakes while using a breaker bar or large wrench. Simple as that. That is, if the motor is in the car and the axles and eveything is connected up.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner!

5th gear and the brakes will prevent any rotation of the engine.

I've tried all methods above and sometimes they work, sometimes not. I had to call my mechanic and he had a mechanic friend who had the gizmo Honda techs use. Works pretty good. Worth the hundred bucks that day!

Honda techs don't actually use those. We just use an impact gun.

Not on this 92 civic Si, nothing worked not even the largest impact. Wouldn't budge for nothin, even with the special Honda tool it was a bia@#...! figured as much that a Honda tech wouldn't if they don't have to.
