I got an 89 civic DX.
This means i got a 20 spline 200mm clutch. Everything after 91 moves to a 212mm disc, but still 20 spline.

I've read all over the net that IF i want to use a 212mm clutch all i have to do is get a 90+ flywheel? I have a 20 spline 212mm clutch kit still in the box.

so my question is this: will any 1990+ flywheel work? anything I need to watch out for?

everything 90 and up is 212mm - any 90-00 D-series flywheel will work - is your clutch kit for 90-91? - throwout bearing is different for 92 up
