Alternator won't come out!!

89 Civic 1500, How does the Alternator come out? Got it loose, don't see how I can remove it. Any suggestions, and dont tell me I have to pull the engine!! THANKS!!! Dave

well you go from underneath the car and pull it throught the bottom it doesnt look like it will fit throught that little hole but it will with a little wiggle it will pop right out good luck!

well i have an 88 si right now but before i had a 88 hf or dx forgot what one it was but it was a 1.5 liter stock 5 speed and i also had a 90 integra and it was the same on that. all i did was pull it down wiggle it a little bit and got it out when i looked at it i thought the same thing there is no way in hell that will fit through there but it does and its really not that hard for me it wasnt it just popped out so good luck hope it goes well for you if worse comes to worse you could always pull the intake maifold off well the bolts so you can kinda move it and just pull it out that way but that takes longer not much but anyways good luck with that let me know if you need anymore assistance!

just unbolt the master brake cylinder then pull it out. from there you can take out the alternator. that's what I did to my 89 crx

That's a lot of trouble. You'll then have to re bleed the whole brake system.

I jsut had to take off my fuel rail, and mine went in. Also I don't have any covers on ym timing belt, so idk maybe that wont work.

mr.crx Nov 28, 2005 06:08 AM

you definatley should have a cover over your timing belt and if you dont its because who ever did the timing belt or timing last time got lazy and didnt put it back on!
