Well, my car jsut started running on 3 cylinders. I tired new spark plugs, new plug wires. And it still didn't help. The Cap and rotor are on 3 months old. It is the 4th cylinder that isn't firing. I turn on the car, and take out the 4th spark plug wire, and it doesnt change anything. So I know its the fourth one. What could it be?

 

You checked the gap on the #4 plug, right? Always check the gap on new plugs, even if they are "Pre-gapped." The last time I bought pregapped plugs (for my Stealth) they where set to .044". Spec is .038" to .042" for that engine.

Next, did you just unplug it to test spark, or did you remove the plug and ground the body? Or, ideally, did you connect a timing light to the wire while it was still all together?

 

Well, When I bought the plugs, they weren't pre-gapped, and the computer said to cap at .052
I can re-gap them, but I don't think that is the problem.
When I buy the plugs for my car, I have to buy them for the Civic Del Sol VTEC. The B16a2 Engine.
That's the only car with the B16a in it.

 

Don't 1999-2000 have b16a2's too?

 

What I mean is that, the plug gap is suggested for the B16a2 is not going to work for the B16a1 correct? Also, I need to figure out y it is running on three cylinders.

 

Well, I Went outside and started my car, and it starts fine, but I need to re-gap the plugs to .044. Hopefully it will help more. I also bought a Ignition Spark tester. It helped. Also, I need to tighten my header on the bottom, where the 4 meets the 2. I also found out that, after trying to splic in my VAFC 2, when I put the Wires back, some of them weren't connected 100%, so I have new ECU plugs at my house, so I am going to get some 18 gauge wire, or w/e the gauge the car has and run good wire to the new ECU plugs. I am going to crimp and heat shrink the new connections. It should solve some of the problems on the car.
