How Do I Know If my VTEC Solenoid is going bad?

Well, the other night I went to go race someone and my car was acting funny. VTEC wouldn't kick in. So then I would turn off the car and turn it back on, and then it would work. Could this be my VTEC Solenoid taking a shit on me?

Dont u also have various CELs? And somone suggested getting rid of the CELs? If y ou have CELs, VTEC will not engage... Therefore fix the CELs, fix the VTEC problem....
