Ok you swap the cams and tell me how it went. that is an untrue statement. Some interchange some dont. Magic carpet is that the DX head? If so they will interchange. But not all nonvtec d series will.

They changed the configuration on the d series head. Outside differences you can see is the spark plugs are in a different spot. Also isnt the newer dx motors 8 valve but they are mpfi and the old ones 16 valve dpfi? Either way they heads changed somewhere in the 5th gen.

the heads changed in the 96 and on model years. the spark plugs are in the exhaust side of the head on the OBD2 motors and the spark plugs are in the intake side of the head in the 95 and under D's. that being said, the cams in the D-series heads from 95 and under should be interchageable. all DX models from 92 and up come with the 16valve head.

Thanks I didnt know what year they changed i know the Y7 is basically based off the Y8 casting and is nothing like the A6 and 4th gen D15 motors.Maybe it was the CX that had 8 valves. LOL either way all nonvtec cams wont interchange check out www.d-series.org
