Default CRX Swap

Hey guys. I'm looking for a CRX. I don't really car what year as long as it has little or no rust. I don't care about body damage too much as long as its not horrible. I am planning on swapping a GSR engine into it this summer and boosting it, perhaps also this summer. I have 6000 dollars(hopefully) for this project. Engine is about 3500 after shipping. That leaves me with 2500 for everything else. I'd like to spend no more than 1000 dollars on the actual car.

However....I live in Washington State and I'm having a hard time finding any CRXs. I don't mind traveling to pick one up, but most of them are way out east. I found one on eBay that looks decent. Its in New Jersey, so at least I would be able to visit family if I got it.

I'm not familiar with CRXs. Can you guys give your input on the car I posted? Also maybe let me know what years have what changes and any sites that have CRXs for sale? Thank you very much.

you want one with little rust i'd buy one that's lived its whole life in s cali or desert / dry climate area (fly down and drive it back up)...these cars are coming on 20 years old (1988 was when the 2g crx was introduced)

If your going to spend that much, i'd consider getting a newer used integra gsr instead of the crx.

No thanks. I love tegs but I have one now and I want something different this time. I love the way hatchs look and its hella light. I've made up my mind on getting a CRX or a civic hatch a long time ago.

As I said before, I really like the CRXs. I have an LS right now and I want to move from integras for this next car. I like the CRXs so I want to go with that, and I want this to be a project, not just another car. I wouldn't be able to get a decent GSR for 6000 after tax anyway.

well if you want a good crx plan on getting a second gen crx (88-91). particularly a 90-91 crx si. the 90-91 Si's come with the rear disc brake set up already (si model only) not only that, the 90-91 comes with a better front bumper redesigned to look like a body kit with holes for foglights, a flanged out front lip (si model only), flanged out rear bumper lip, round cluster bezel (able to swap in gsr, type r, si (99-00), s2000 gauge clusters in, due to the round gauge cluster bezel), and they have the redesigned tail lights with the darker outline on the lights.

the only negative is that it weighs like 200-300 more pounds than the other models. if you want to save weight and dont care about any of these and just want a light weight car, go with the 88' model. lightest of all the 2nd gen. crx's.

I might be taking a look at a dealers 88. Hes sending me pictures today and specs on the car. I'm trying to get a car with as little rust as possible.

I do want disc brakes on the car and the round cluster. The brakes I can do but the cluster would be harder. Is that only on 90 and 91s?
