1st b16a redline?
Well the ecu was throwing code 5(map sensor), turned out to be a loose vacuum hose. So that's fixed. Now the only code is 17(vss), so i will try to get that speedo cable in there
Went out to the car today, cleared the ecu, turned on the car, checked the ecu for codes, no codes being thrown. From parked position in neutral, I revved the engine to redline, the car still redlines at 7.5k???? What the hell is going on? Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the engine to redline so early? If the ecu isn't throwing any codes, then my last possible cause, I would think, would be the ecu. Any other suggestions still? Thanks.
OK... i know crap about civic's or there engines. But i do know that with my h22a, if the speed sensor is not working than vtec will not switch over. If vtec does not switch then the ecu will rev limit the car to 6500rpm's(in my s2k its 7000). How ever you might check your timming. Like i said before i dont know crap about civics but i know that all the accords(90-up) and preludes(92-up) have electronic VSS's. so you might have to find a way to splice in the wires or see if the old one will go in to the new tranny. Of course if its manual than scratch what i just said about switching them.
My car's a five speed with a non-eletric type speed sensor, so scratch that. So the timing could cause the early redline? My distributor is a bit on the retarded side. I'm going to adjust it anyway, but would that really have an affect on the redline? Thanks for the help!

I talked to steve yesterday from hmotorsonline. He said in neutral, the engine NORMALLY only revs to 7.5k. When driving, however, the redline should be at 8.2k, because of vtec. I'm not sure if that's how it works. Does anyone elses 1st gen b16a rev like this?
Holy crap! I feel like a total dumbass. This whole time, i was putting the speedo cable into a hole for a bolt(as you can see from the picture! This is my first swap, and I didn't realize that this tranny has an electronic speed sensor. I just removed the electric part, found the speedo gear, removed it, and put my speedo cable into it. Man! Why didn't any of the websites I looked at before i did the swap(and I did look at a bunch) mention this? The part I removed is in the pic below. So for any noobs doing the swap, and you see that same gray eletrical connector on your transmission, remove it, and attach your speedo cable into the hole there.
I'm gonna test drive it when I wake up later on today. Hopefully everything checks out! Thanks for the help guys.
