Who has a lightened flywheel out there?
Hey, I just replaced my stock flywheel with a 7.5lb aluminum flywheel that I picked up for $179.00 (brand New) I figured it was a good idea to do instead of gettin my stock one remachined. I feel how much lighter it is when I drive it. NOw my question is, with the old one I used to be able to run it up to about 8700 and rip into 2nd gear and I would pull a phat second gear skirt. Now when I rip back on it it doesn't skirt. Is it because of the inertia of the lighter flywheel, in that it slows down quicker just as it revs up quicker? Am I getting to that speed faster with the lighter flywheel though?

yeah.. the inertia thing is right. my guess is you are getting to that speed faster since youve dropped bout 20 pounds off the drive train. just make sure your clutch isnt slippin and you should be good.

I put an aluminum flywheel in my 350hp turbo Supra. You should have seen me revving the crap out of that thing to try to store enough torque to climb out of a steep parking lot from a standstill. Eventually had to give up and take a running start at it! -scott
