Default CRX engine swap in california - what do I need to know for smog/emissions?

Can anyone tell me (personal experience would be nice) what I would have to do to pass emissions if I wanted to put a b16 or b18 into a CRX? No forced induction, but maybe some internals, intake, and exhaust. Given that the motor is out of a newer model and intake/exhaust is carb approved, is this feasible in california and what would I have to do?

Thanks, although that doesn't really explain what's needed. Let's say I got a B18C1 or B16A. What else would I have to convert (intake, computer, sensors, etc)?

Call Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) in California<http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/>. Any engine swap (aside from the engine that came stock with the car) will have to be refereed through them.

Basically, they want all sensors and engine systems working, catalytic converter, _must_ pass smog test.

here's another faq link that i bookmarked:

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=642479

you will need all the emissions parts out of a vtec delsol for the b16a swap and you will need the intake manifold and you need to do a obd0-obd1 ecu upgrade. i think for the b18b and b18a you will need to take the emissions parts out of a 94-95 integra rs/ls and the the obd upgrade as well. good luck passing!

That article doesn't say anything new, it's just talking about already illegal mods.
