CV Boots Bands-Special tool?
There are two special tools that I am aware of one that pinches the band and one that is more used for universal style that you slip the band thru and then twist it to pull tight and then crimp the band with the tabs and a punch where the little box is on the band.
I've never used a special tool. Sometimes I get the thing on perfect-- 1st try. Other times it gets greasy and I it takes numerous tries and I end up with a mangled mess. It works but it's ugly from all the unnecessary bending and rebending.
Next time I plan to throw away the metal bands and just put a good zip tie on there nice and tight. -scott

Thanks for the replies guys. Well, I couldn't get a the "spider" off the driveshaft, so I will just get a remanufactured axle instead of doing the boots. FYI, for a 85 CRX DX/Si, the boot kit came with boots(2), bands, grease (2), spindle nut, snap rings (3) all for $52 ($42 online). The part number is 44018-SA5-A01.
