Converting Automatic to Manual
I have a friend that has a automatic 89 civic and I am wondering since I have a complete stock engine and manuall tranny on the factory cradle if I could just swap them?

No, it's not that simple. You need the manual pedal assembly, manual ECU, clutch cable, etc.
When converting to manual, there is really two options.
1) Sell the car and buy a manual. This is the cheapest and easiest.
2) Buy a complete manual trans parts car and swap everything.
I understand the emotional attachment thing, but after I totaled my first car ('92 Integra) I bought and started driving a manual trans '87 Civic Si. The Si was definately a funner car... I haven't regualrly driven an automatic since.
