Allright guys finnally got my d16a1 engine installed and running in my 87 CRX. It is blowing black smoke and the plugs smell like fuel, also the PGMFI light is on. I looked under the seat at the ECU light and it is just on no flashing or anything???? Shouldnt it flash a code if the PGMFI light is on? I am going to replace the o2 sensor today to see if that helps, but what else should I check??? TIA

 

dumping gas, is it a engine swap from another motor? is the harness pin array different?

 

Yes the engine is out of a 87 integra but the wires on the harness were all the same colors so I just pliced them together.

 

is your ECU PG7 from 86-87?

 

Not sure what that means but I did get the ecu from the 87 integra I got the tranny out of. I have tried both ecu's and I get a code now of 14 which is the ECIV?? I have check voltage like the book says but when I power up and check the plug going to the ECIV the ground wire doesnt have continuity to the body ground. I think I will check out the wires I had to splice at the harness.
