ok heres my situation. my engine came with a auto ecu and i ran it like that for a month and vtec kicked in at 4200rpm and last week i bought a skunk2 chipped pr3 ecu that was supposed to kick in at 5000rpm and still engages at 4200 rpm. so im starting to think theres something wrong with my car as far as vtec wants to always engage at 4200
???????????????????????????????????? I'm lost lol

On stock 1st gen b16 i think it's suppose to be 5200. It's not your motor it's your ecu.

I'm not sure of your situation but I have a auto B16A ECU & my vtec kicks in at 4500 .Remember you have 2 parts to your Vtec.I can't think of the site but B16A1 should kick in at around 4500 because my friends 97 GSR Vtec kicks in at 4400.OH, one site you can check out is WWW.JDMCARS.COM & WWW.JSPEC.COM. 4500 is when your Vtec w/no chipped ECU should engage.Even the Integra Type R doesn't kick in that high.Good Luck

wrong.

vtec in a gsr is at 4400 because it works with the dual stage manifold to keep the torque curve flat. vtec in a b16 and itr engine is in the 5500-5700 range.
