High flow cat or pipe from heaters back.
I was wondering which gives better gains or is it the same. I know people with just pipe and others with a high flow cat. Also which is more quiet/loud. What size piping do I need.....stock crx si

Each will not give you very noticable gains by themselves but by both with a Header to get max performance gain. your exhaust is only as free flowing as the most restrictive piece.

The high flow cat is obviously going to be not as loud as straight pipe from the headers. But if you get headers and straight pipe to the muffler you will get better gains. As daveb91 said, your exhaust is as free flowing as it most restrictive piece.
