heater problem
I see I'm not the only one on this board with no heat, but so far I have not been able to resolve my problem. it is not the blower motor, as it still blows plent of air through the vents. it is not the heater control valve, i checked that it still works. what else should i check? and how difficult is it to really just replace the whole heater?
Without taking the dash out-the whole heater would be a real pain. Try warming the car up fully and then-with the blower off-put you hand on the heater box. Also check that the hoses going thru the firewall are in fact warm or hot to the touch. Could be that the internal part of the valve has failed. Another thing-are you using the stock thermostat and the correct anit-freeze mixture? That is all I can think of.
i am using the stock thermostat but i didnt think it was the thermostat because it reads the car warming up correctly, but the antifreeze mixture is not correct, it is mostly antifreeze, this is because last year i had a small leak and just kept filling it up with antifreeze. do u really think that could be the problem?
Did you fix the leak? Or did you seal the leak?
Get the coolant % corrected.
A thermostat is only $10, so you may as well do it while you're draining the coolant.
If you sealed the leak, maybe you're valve or heater core is partially sealed from the crap in the coolant.

I fixed the leak, i didnt seal it. I have a new thermostat, I've owned it for months because I originally thought that was why I was overheating until it turned out to be a simple loss of coolant because of the leak. The drain plug for the radiator had been stripped and I dont know how it happened, I didnt do it. Also, mysteriously my heat worked last night. I have had teh evaporator(would be heating duct for cars without a/c) unattached for a little bit, it's still in its place but its not flush with either the heater or the blower. Heat came out of the vents, however, when i put my hand between the heater and teh evaporator, it was cold. What does this mean?
Alright, that was dumb, I know why its cold. But any thoughts on why it would just start working again? I dont have complete confidence that its not just going to quit out on me again.
