I cannot get any air to move thru the vents in the dash, sounded like a gate or something closed shut. the heat comes out only through the floor now, barely any defrost as well.

this occurred when I moved the slider from low to high, POP, and then nothing from the vents...

any ideas???

 

By slider, do u mean the one below the driver's side vent, that slides back and forth horizontally? Right above the coin tray, also has an outline of a car and an arrow on it... If thats it, just slide it back... Cant remember exactly what its called, but it allows air to come from outside the car... Which would explain why ur heat wont go thru the them... And does sound like a gate opening when u flip it...

 

no the slider that makes the heater go from low fan to high fan

yeah i played around with the slider you were talking about and it just seems to be a vent to the 'outside world'. dumb idea if you live where it is -6 and your trying to keep it fairly warm on your hands and you have a direct vent from a 70mph car travelling on the highway lol.
