Default heat problem

 This the deal. My 91 civic si hatch has no good heat. You only feel heat at high speeds(60 mph etc). I'm guessing could it be my heater motor. If this is the case does anyone know of a place in the Waldorf Md area who specializes in Honda -Acura. I really don't want to go to the dealer, they're too expensive. I really want to drive my civic& park my truck because of gas prices. Also would you recommend a new heater motor or can I just go used?

You thimk it could be a bad thermostat even if I just did swap in November. If it is do you know what one cost and where would it be located if I try & do the job myself? Thanks, Gingas

U can go used... Prolly find one on eBay... But, as with most used parts, u have the possibility of it happening again a few months down the road... Usually when they die, they cease up, when u turn on your heat, do u hear anything running behind the dash? If u do, its probably not the heater motor...

So the fan blows but the heat isn't hot? Or is it that the fan doesn't work?

When you turn the heat on 1-4 you hear nothing. If you're sitting still while car is idling it's nothing blowing, but as you're driving at say 60 you feel some heat. So I guess that means the heater motor is no good or should I get a thermostat & have a tech install it. I called Bowie Honda & Ken Dixon for a heater motor prices they want 207.74. Labor to install is 149. So that's what I might need to do. The wife & I just been driving the truck. No fun with these 20 degrees temp. I do need to just get it done gas has been killing the pockets 4cyl vs 6cyl. Thanks, Gingas

Yea. It sounds like a bad blower motor or a blown fuse. It's not to difficult to take it out, test it, and replace it if bad.

Could be the switch, fuse, resister or motor. The motor is really easy to get to. I would just get a used one. I have two extras, but mine still works after 292,000 and I run it all day long. Work car.

How would you take it out if I decided to do it myself. The fuse is good, so it's problably one of the other things. Thanks, Gingas
