prelude engine is an H series and an Si is a B16a so its a B series. I think the old preludes are named like a the b series they are nothing like the b16's or b18's

yeah, i have an 89 crx hf, and my gf's bro is telling me to atleast pick up a same year si engine so that he can do a swap (he wants a project car). I like preludes (the newer ones atleast) but i was wondering if it would be better to go with a same year prelude engine or a same year si engine. I want a b16 but i am alil bit tooo broke for it yet.

you dont really need the same year. i donno if 89's are OBD1 or pre-obd but make sure it the same OBD as your car. you could always use a conversion harness but ohwell..

"Same year" Prelude engine would be a B20A (followed in '89 by the B21A.) The wiring isn't too bad, but you'll never get it to mount without some seriously expensive custom mounts, axles, and shift linkage.

89 is OBD-0 if youre that broke you can swap trannys for an si tranny. It isnt a d16a6 but it will be a helluva lot better than the gearing you have now and you might feel somewhat safe getting on the highway too.
