Default What engine to buy? Ran out of ZC

Local shop had the AC and someopne beat me to it. the other shop thatw as going to install the engine said not to use vtec b/c there a hassle plus hard for the ECu for him to find. What other engine do you guys recommend? My current engine has a mind of its own most likely electrical among oil leak problems

Which vtec motor is he talking about? If you stick with an obd-0 b16a, it's not that much of a hassle.

I would recomend that you find a Honda proficient technician. This one doesn't really seem to want to do the job based on what I've read. Putting a more powerful VTEC engine in your little CRX will make for an awesome power to weight ratio, but of course if you just want to get it running right, a similar engine might be better.

The only problem and it isnt even really that much of a problem is if your CRX is a DX model. If you want to put say a B16a in a DX then your going to have to get a new wiring harness due to the DX having DPFI where the SI has MPFI. But other than that you shouldnt have a problem if your motor comes with Engine Tranny and ECU. Now if you have a HF model then the only thing you have to worry about is upgrading the suspension and brakes to handle your new power but id recommend doing that anyway if your doing a motor swap.

also go to www.jhpusa.com for more engines...they have a JDM B16A 88-91 SIR1 V1 Engine Swap that would fit your CRX for $1399.00 plus if you want an LSD tranny you can upgrade for $250.
