Default Anybody know what this does?

I've attached a picture of the back of a D16A6 intake manifold. Could somebody tell me what the hell that little attachment on the left does? It's not on the back of the ZC intake, so what gives?

Do you know why it's in that location on the D16A6 but not on the ZC?

same reason it isnt on the JDM p-30 intake mani but it is on the USDM p-30 mani...we have different emissions that need to be met, and that helps somehow...I dont exactly know what it does exactly.

It's the "fast idle solenoid valve" according to the sticker on the inside of my 1991 CRX Si's hood (D16A6 engine).

I was unde the impression that the FIV was attached to the bottom of the TB on the d16a6?

There are two hoses connected the bottom of the TB (one carries coolant from the thermastat housing, the other returns the coolant to circulation); there is no valve on the bottom of the TB.

(The sticker I referred to has a very nice labelled drawing of the intake manifold and it's parts so the smog test tech doesn't have to guess when doing his inspection and testing.)
